I decided that I was tired of looking at my lighthouse throw pillows, so I used the acrylic/mohair blend yarn (in the bag) I got at the local thrift last week. I love the vintage-y colors, and really think it’s pretty in it’s ugliness.

My next project is a scrap yarn afghan, which I mentioned in my previous blog post. I’m almost done with it….I’m working on the outer band of color. I can’t decide to keep it all blue, or to add more scrapi-ness. What do you think?

I’m also redoing my oldest (18) son’s afghan I made him about 7 or 8 yrs ago. His favorite colors at the time were orange and purple….not sure how he feels about them now. At any rate, he doesn’t care for the “openess” of it. I was trying to make it “fast and furious” by using double or triple crochet throughout. Turns out, not a good idea. SO, now I’m frogging (ripping) it, and doing a different stitch. I believe he’ll prefer this one.

Last, but by no means least…I am making t-shirt yarn. I bought 2 XL long sleeve tee shirts at the local thrift yesterday for $.99 each. Like I could really pass that up? I cut the tee shirt from armpit to armpit, cut off the bottom hem band, and starting cutting (5/8″) around, and this is what I have so far. It’s thin, but I get more yarn/use out of it at that “weight”. I have no idea what I’m going to make out of it. I guess it’ll depend on how much yarn I end up with. Ideas? Suggestions?
